Srixon ZXi Driver Review — Distance, Stability & Tour-Style Control in a More Forgiving Package
The Srixon ZXi Driver signals a fresh chapter in Srixon’s metalwood identity — a deliberate shift towards more accessible speed and stability without abandoning the classic, compact shaping that made the ZX7 and ZX5 families so popular on Tour.
Where Srixon’s previous drivers were very much “player first, everyone else second”, the ZXi aims to bridge the gap. It keeps the tour-ready shaping, the solid feel, the unmistakable Srixon sound… but it layers in a modern level of forgiveness and launch-assistance that’s been missing from earlier models.
This is the most complete driver Srixon has made to date — and arguably their most relevant for everyday golfers.

Design Philosophy — A More Playable Srixon, Without Losing Its DNA
For years, Srixon drivers have sat in a very distinct category:
Compact, workable, rewarding for great swings, and demanding for anything less.
The ZXi moves Srixon into a more balanced space.
A Re-Engineered Rebound Frame
Srixon refines its Rebound Frame structure once again — now with a more flexible face surrounding a firmer internal ring. The idea is simple: maximise ball speed on centre strikes and give players more speed on low and heel-side hits (two of the most common amateur misses).
Earlier versions were mainly centre-focused.
ZXi is face-wide.
New Carbon Crown + Weight Redistribution
A newly designed carbon crown frees up weight to be repositioned deeper and lower in the head. This creates:
Higher launch
More forgiveness
A more stable face through impact
It’s the biggest departure from the classic ZX7 / ZX5 internal weighting philosophy — and it works.
Confidence-Boosting, But Still Tour-Shaped
The ZXi keeps a traditional, slightly rounded toe and a subtly squared face angle. It looks like a Srixon, but the footprint feels just a touch larger and more confidence-inspiring at address.
This is still a player’s driver visually — just one that invites more golfers in.

On-Course Performance — Fast, Forgiving & Surprisingly Easy to Launch
Launch & Trajectory
ZXi launches higher than ZX7 and slightly higher than ZX5 Mk II.
This makes it accessible to:
mid-handicap golfers
players with moderate swing speed
golfers who struggled to elevate previous Srixon models
It’s not a ballooning flight — just naturally high, with a powerful mid-peak trajectory.
Ball Speed & Distance
The face feels fast.
Not “hot and springy” like some carbon-face drivers — more of a dense, explosive thump.
The Rebound Frame update clearly helps across the face. Low-face strikes, a historic weak point for ZX-series drivers, now stay in the air with more carry and less spin drop-off.
Distance is competitive with the biggest hitters in the category. Good swings get rewarded, but poor swings aren’t punished nearly as harshly as before.
Sound & Feel
This is classic Srixon territory — dense, solid, powerful.
Compare it to:
TaylorMade Qi35 → more muted
PING G430 → louder, more metallic
Callaway Elyte → quieter carbon “snap”
ZXi sounds like a proper titanium-led driver.
For many traditionalists, that’s a massive win.
Forgiveness
This is where ZXi surprises.
It’s noticeably more stable:
Toe strikes hold their line better
Heel strikes lose less ball speed
Low hits launch higher
High hits flatten without ballooning
If the ZX7 was a “better player only” driver and ZX5 was the “player-friendly” model, ZXi feels like a true all-category option.

Who the Srixon ZXi Driver Suits — Three Real Golfer Profiles
1. Mid-Handicap Golfers (10–18) Seeking More Stability
This is probably the core ZXi audience.
Players who want forgiveness but don’t want a giant, max-MOI head will love this.
ZXi keeps your shots playable and straighter without feeling oversized.
2. Better Players Wanting Workability and Protection
Low-handicap golfers will appreciate:
the traditional face angle
the neutral CG
the ability to hit fades or draws without fighting excessive bias
But unlike the ZX7, it won’t punish you when timing is off.
3. Former ZX5/ZX7 Users Wanting Easier Launch
Players who loved the ZX identity but struggled with:
consistent launch,
maintaining spin, or
finding forgiveness outside centre
…will find ZXi is the driver Srixon always needed to make.
It fixes the weaknesses without losing the feel and shaping they’re known for.

How It Compares to Previous Srixon Drivers
Vs Srixon ZX5 Mk II
ZX5 was mid-launch, forgiving-ish, but still had a strong player profile.
ZXi is:
easier to launch
more stable
more forgiving low on the face
ZX5 may feel a touch more workable for some, but ZXi wins for everyday consistency.
Vs Srixon ZX7 Mk II
ZX7 is compact, low-spin, workability-first.
ZXi:
launches higher
produces more spin stability
offers significantly more forgiveness
has a larger, more stable footprint
If ZX7 was “player’s only”, ZXi is “player’s driver… but sensible.”
Vs Srixon Z785 / Z565
ZXi is a huge leap forward.
Older Z-series drivers required precise ball striking — ZXi rewards modern swings, including imperfect ones.
Vs Competitors (TaylorMade, Callaway, PING)
Not as ultra-forgiving as a PING G430 Max
Not as artificially hot-sounding as a Stealth
Not as carbon-muted as Callaway Elyte
But it blends:
traditional feel
modern forgiveness
workability
…the most natural.

Final Verdict — Srixon’s Most Complete Driver Yet
For golfers who want a premium, no-gimmicks, no-flash driver that simply performs — fast, straight, stable, and consistent — ZXi might be one of the sleeper hits of the 2025 season.
It isn’t loud.
It isn’t flashy.
It isn’t trying to be something it’s not.
It’s a driver built for real golfers, on real courses, swinging real swings.
That’s why it works.
