What was in the bag of the 2023 masters winner

Jon Rahm won the 2023 Masters Tournament. It was the Spaniard’s seventh year playing in the event and he had frequently been among the betting favorites. That year, he finally sealed the deal and earned his second career major championship. He endured a difficult week of weather and stoppages in play to best other major champions including Brooks Koepka (-8, T2), Jordan Spieth (-7, T4), and Phil Mickelson (T2).

Quick Recap

With the third round being suspended due to weather on Saturday, Koepka started the day on Sunday with a four stroke lead on Rahm. By the beginning of the final round, the lead was down to 2. Koepka had looked like his old self all week but he wasn’t able to keep the rhythm working on Sunday afternoon. He failed to make a birdie until the 13th and by then Rahm had already overtaken him.

Mickelson was arguably the biggest surprise of the week. Though the then 52-year-old has won the Masters three times and is exceedingly comfortable around Augusta National, he had been far from playing his best golf in the past year. In addition to keeping a low profile because of his controversial comments in the midst of joining LIV Golf, his performances had been poor. Not so that week. His Sunday 65 was vintage Phil.

Another player who had a week to remember was 23-year-old amateur Sam Bennett. The reigning U.S. Amateur champ at the time played in the final group during the third round after being paired with Scottie Scheffler in the opening round and easily outplaying him, shooting back-to-back rounds of 68. Though he slowed down on the weekend, he ended up finishing T16 at -2.

Rahm’s driver is built for low spin, serious ball speed, and full control, and that’s exactly what he got with the Paradym Triple Diamond. It’s a proper Tour-level driver, compact, powerful, and engineered for players who know how to shape shots. His Aldila Tour Green ATX 75 shaft adds extra stability, keeping the ball flight strong and reliable.

A proper workhorse in Rahm’s bag. The Triple Diamond T 3-wood is built for penetrating ball flights and effortless power, ideal for attacking long par-5s. It’s paired with the Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8X shaft, which helps deliver an aggressive but controlled strike.

Some players opt for a long iron or hybrid in this spot, but Rahm’s choice of a 5-wood shows he values a mix of distance and playability. This one provides a higher launch and softer landing, making it a great weapon for long approaches. The Tour AD DI 8X shaft keeps things stable through impact.

The Tour Cavity Back design offers enough forgiveness to stay consistent, but make no mistake, these irons are designed for pin-seekers, not just point-and-shoot golf. His Project X 125 6.5 shafts add an extra element of stiffness, giving him complete command over his shot shapes.
