World Cup WITB’s - Group G & H

As the World Cup WITBs tournament rolls on, we've reached two groups with very different storylines.

Group G looks like one of the most competitive we've seen so far. New Zealand's Ryan Fox and Belgium's Thomas Detry are separated by just eight places in the world rankings, setting up a fascinating battle for top spot. Meanwhile, Egypt's Issa Abou El Ela represents an emerging golfing nation, while Iran currently has no ranked representative.

Group H, on the other hand, appears far more straightforward on paper.

Spain arrive with Jon Rahm, one of the strongest players in the entire competition and a golfer capable of carrying his nation deep into the tournament single-handedly. Saudi Arabia's Khalid Attieh will be hoping to challenge, while Cape Verde and Uruguay currently have no ranked representatives in the field.

Let's take a look at the bags representing Groups G and H.

Group G - New Zealand

Group G - Iran

At the time of writing, Iran does not currently have a golfer with an Official World Golf Ranking or an established representative competing on one of the game's major professional tours.

As a result, there is no player available to feature in this edition of World Cup WITBs. With golf continuing to expand globally, future editions may well see Iran represented on golf's biggest stages.

Group G Standings

1 New Zealand Ryan Fox 58
2 Belgium Thomas Detry 66
3 Egypt Issa Abou El Ela 2207
4 Iran No ranked representative N/A
Group G could be one of the closest groups in the tournament. New Zealand's Ryan Fox and Belgium's Thomas Detry are separated by just eight places in the world rankings and both arrive with proven credentials at the highest level. Behind them, Egypt's Issa Abou El Ela represents an emerging golfing nation, while Iran currently has no ranked representative. On paper, this looks like a straight shootout between Fox and Detry for top spot.

Group H - Spain

Representative: Jon Rahm (LIV Golf)
 OWGR: 12

Whenever Spain appears in a golfing competition, expectations are high. With Jon Rahm leading the charge, Group H immediately becomes one of the most formidable groups in the tournament. The former world number one and major champion arrives as the highest-ranked player across both groups and brings a bag packed with proven tour-winning equipment.

Group H - Uruguay

As a result, there is no player available to feature in this edition of World Cup WITBs.

Group H - Cape Verde

At the time of writing, Cape Verde does not currently have a golfer with an Official World Golf Ranking or an established representative competing on one of the game's major professional tours.

As a result, there is no player available to feature in this edition of World Cup WITBs.

Group H Standings

Position Nation Golfer OWGR
1 Spain Jon Rahm 12
2 Saudi Arabia Khalid Attieh 2559
3 Cape Verde No ranked representative N/A
4 Uruguay No ranked representative N/A
Group H belongs to Spain on paper. Jon Rahm is not only the highest-ranked player in the group but one of the strongest players in the entire World Cup WITBs tournament. Saudi Arabia's Khalid Attieh provides the group's only realistic challenger, while Cape Verde and Uruguay currently have no ranked representatives. Anything other than a Spanish victory would be considered a major upset.

Group G vs Group H

Group G may be the more competitive group, but Group H possesses the strongest individual player. Ryan Fox and Thomas Detry are separated by just eight places in the world rankings, creating a fascinating battle for top spot. Spain, meanwhile, can look to Jon Rahm to carry them through.

From an equipment perspective, Callaway dominates both groups. Rahm and Detry rely heavily on Callaway throughout their bags, while Ryan Fox brings a contrasting Srixon and Cleveland setup to the competition. Whether it's Rahm's Apex TCB irons or Fox's Srixon ZXi combination, both groups showcase some of the most popular equipment currently being used at the highest level of professional golf.

If Group G is all about competitiveness, Group H is all about star power. Jon Rahm enters as one of the favourites to win the entire World Cup WITBs tournament, while Fox and Detry will be battling to prove they belong among the elite.
