As regular visitors to our blog will know, we like to keep a keen eye on which golf clubs the world’s best golfers are choosing to carry in their golf bags. This month we turn our attention to New Zealand golf superstar Lydia Ko. It’s fair to say she’s smashed it out of the park this year. She’s currently (at the time of writing) riding high in third place in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, and she bagged a gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics (securing her a place in the LPGA Hall of Fame).
Not content with all that, she was most recently victorious at the AIG Women’s Open with an incredible two-shot win on the Old Course at St Andrews. All that should quell any recent whispers about her potential retirement from golf! So, let’s take a look at which golf clubs gave her the edge at the Open.

What’s In The Bag: Lydia Ko
Driver: PING G430 LST (10 degrees)
Ko’s current driver of choice is the ever-popular PING G430 LST. With the carbon fibre wrap delivering high-tech looks, moveable weights, and a low spin, this driver is great for playability and is certainly a top performer on the golf course.

Fairways & Hybrid: PING G430 Max (15 & 18 degrees, and 22 degrees)
Sticking with PING, Lydia selected the PING G430 fairways in 15 and 18 degrees of loft, coupled with Mitsubishi Diamana GT 60S shafts. Forgiveness and accuracy come in spades with these fairway woods, and while the compromise might be a little distance, it’s still an excellent choice. And her hybrid of choice was the PING G430 hybrid, Graphite Design Tour AD HY 65S shaft (22 degrees).

Irons & Wedges: PING i230 (5-7), PING Blueprint (8-9), and Titleist Vokey Design SM9
Still staying with PING, Ko’s 5 and 7 irons of choice were PING i230, and her 8 and 9 irons were PING Blueprints. She opted for AeroTech SteelFiber fc70 shafts for her irons. Breaking away from PING for the first time, Lydia chose wedges at a number of different degrees of loft, all from the Titleist Vokey Design range.

Putter: Scotty Cameron TourType SSS TG6
As one of the world’s leading putter brands, it’s no surprise that Lydia should opt for a Scotty Cameron putter. She chose the TourType SSS TG6 to finish each shot with finesse. You can read more about Scotty Cameron in our Brand Focus article to find out why it’s become such an iconic golf brand.

We’ll be watching Ko very closely over the coming season to see which golf club models she sticks with and which new ones she adopts. And hopefully, her winning streak will continue!
