10 - TAYLORMADE M6

In at number 10 is the all-rounder TaylorMade M6. Suitable for a variety of players, it generates fast ball speeds from various strike locations around the sweet spot, and hits long distances. It’s a fine-looking club with a stable head and it’s very forgiving too.

9 - PING G400 MAX

Great for golfers who want to find more fairways off the tee, with a 460cc club head, the PING G400 Max has a higher resistance to twisting than the standard G400 driver. It’s forgiving on off-centre shots without any reduction in club head speed.

8 - PING G410 LST

A forgiving, low-spin driver from PING’s G410 driver range, adding distance. You wouldn’t necessarily notice, but the club head in the PING G410 LST is 5cc smaller in volume compared to their G410 Plus. A very user-friendly driver that’s as popular with amateur golfers as it is with professionals.

7 - TITLEIST 917 D2

Occupying the number 7 slot is Titleist’s very first CH driver with adjustable shaft weight. If you’re after a shiny and good-looking, slightly old-fashioned titanium driver that’s tried and tested on the fairways, then the Titleist 917 D2 is the one for you.

6 - TAYLORMADE M5

TaylorMade’s second appearance in our top 10 chart is the M5 driver. Offering more ball speed than its M3 cousin, this adjustable driver gives consistently faster swing speeds and added forgiveness. It looks impressive, generates great distance and gives impressive ball speeds, so it’s no wonder it’s so popular.

5 - CALLAWAY MAVRIK

Callaway’s first appearance in our chart is the very user-friendly Mavrik - great for finding fairways a little easier but with no sacrifice on distance. It has an updated Flash Face which has been designed by a supercomputer, and a satisfying ‘thud’ on meeting the ball.

4 - COBRA KING RADSPEED

The adjustable weights in the Cobra King Radspeed make it like two drivers in one. With a unique sound, low spin and excellent ball speed, this one’s popular for a reason. It’s targeted at 0-15 handicaps and offers solid forgiveness.

3 - PING G425

Often referred to as PING’s most forgiving driver to date, the G425 driver is perfect for high handicappers who are wanting to hit straighter shots with increased accuracy and no sacrifice on distance. It feels very stable, and once you’ve found your perfect shaft and loft combination you’ll love it.

2 - CALLAWAY EPIC SPEED

Callaway’s second entry in our top ten list is called Epic Speed for a reason! In at number two, and only just missing out on the top spot is Callaway’s leading driver that is around 0.8-1.5mph faster than the Epic MAX LS and Epic MAX (and that’s pretty impressive, given that every 1mph of club head speed equates to around an extra 3 yards in distance).
